LATAM: Tourism & Hotel Industry Report  from ANUARIO INMOBILIARIO 2013

Based on “The Hotel Market Overview” by specialized consulting firm HVS Argentina

The current overview for the hotel industry in Latin America is promising and according to experts, the region will continue to grow in the next 5 years. South America, specifically, accounts for 2,6% of total international arrivals in the world reaching, in the past period, a total of 25,8 million tourists.

In the past 10 years, the region has grown by 47% in terms of arrivals and specifically in 2012 South America was one of the sub-regions that experienced the biggest growth, according to the World Tourism Organization.

Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Uruguay, Peru and Paraguay have all surpassed the world average (4,6%). Within the sub-region Argentina holds the lead for the second consecutive year, but this expect to change in 2014 end 2016 when Brazil will host the World Cup and Olympic Games…
